Connie Lindberg: February 16, 1954 – May 12, 2026

By Montecito Journal   |   June 16, 2026

Connie Lindberg, 72, of Santa Barbara passed away peacefully on May 12th, holding the hand of Carl, her beloved husband of 39 years. Connie was born on February 16, 1954, in Chicago, IL. Before beginning school, her family moved west to Alamo, CA, where she spent her childhood. She graduated from San Ramon High School in 1972 and went on to receive a BA from Santa Clara University.

After college, Connie developed a passion for art and architecture. She took up watercolor painting and attended the University of California at Berkeley, in a Master’s degree program in Architecture and Environmental Design. It was in a freehand drawing class there that she met Carl, with whom she would spend the rest of her life.

They married and settled in Summerland in 1986. Two children, Lindsay and Sam, soon followed. It was as a young mom that Connie thrived. She baked cookies and drove carpools. She jumped feet first into activities for her children, including taking on a leadership role at All Saints preschool, and as the president of Parents for Crane at Crane School. She also served on the Vestry at All Saints-by-the-Sea and was a cherished member of the church community. The family moved from Summerland to Montecito in 1994, to a house that Carl rebuilt into the home of Connie’s dreams, and there they settled.

Summers were especially treasured times with family and friends for Connie, at her beloved summer house in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. She was her best self there. She swam in the lake, cooked delicious meals, watercolor painted, celebrated sunsets, and had the time of her life.

As her kids grew up, Connie did as well. She opened a catering business under the name Cucina Connie and ran a weekly supper club meal delivery. Eventually, she parlayed her catering business into another food adventure, Olive Street Table, making her own line of galettes in a commercial kitchen and traveling to food shows and grocery stores to demo her product.

Connie took pride in everything she did, from baking a simple dessert to organizing an entire country fair for the community. She was tireless and driven and will be sorely missed by those who loved her.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and John Knight. She leaves behind her husband, Carl, her brothers, Thomas and Steven, her children, Lindsay (Kris Fuentes) and Sam (Ashley Lindberg), her seven nieces and nephews, and her five grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at All Saints-by-the-Sea, 83 Eucalyptus Lane, Santa Barbara, CA 93108, at 2 pm on Friday, June 12. Please join her family in a celebration of her life, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cabin Fund, the trust preserving her beloved Wisconsin cabin in the woods, where she was always at her best, and where her memory will live on for generations to come.
