Music and Words: SYV Struts in both Los Olivos and uptown SB

The final concert in the current Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series takes place at 4 pm on Saturday, May 17, with the fourth annual Young Artist Showcase featuring young musicians from around Santa Barbara County performing at St. Mark’s in-the-Valley Church in Los Olivos. Admission is free. 

The Valley also represents in midtown Santa Barbara next Thursday, May 22, Arvind Ethan David – the writer-producer who moved from Los Angeles to the Santa Ynez Valley in 2020 – comes to Chaucer’s for a book talk and signing of his new graphic novel Raymond Chandler’s Trouble is My Business. David’s career launched with an adaption of the Douglas Adams’ novel Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency as a high school play, and he later produced the Grammy and Tony-winning Broadway show Jagged Little Pill. He is presently adapting Adams’ famed The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy for London’s Riverside Studios. With his seventh graphic novel, David has turned his eye to the classic Raymond Chandler novella featuring detective Philip Marlowe. The author is joined at Chaucer’s by Edgar-winning novelist Ben H. Winters (The Last Policeman) who also created the CBS TV show Tracker.
