‘Chanel in Vogue’ Comes to Santa Barbara
The Couture Pattern Museum is bringing a touch of Parisian elegance to Santa Barbara with the exclusive West Coast premiere of Chanel in Vogue, an international fashion and cultural salon celebrating the publication of the two-volume book. Authors and fashion historians Rebecca C. Tuite and Susanna Brown will lead a lecture and Q&A exploring Chanel’s evolution through the pages of Vogue from 1913 to today.
The afternoon will feature a message from Adrien Frier, Consul General of France in Los Angeles, and a recorded presentation by a former Chanel designer in Paris. Guests can also explore a photography exhibition alongside archival Chanel patterns and materials dating from the 1930s through the 1960s.
Adding to the French flair, the event includes champagne and afternoon tea with pastries by acclaimed pâtissier Yannick Dumonceau, including Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite dessert. The celebration highlights the museum’s mission to preserve the artistry and craftsmanship of haute couture.

Land Trust Moves to Save Naples
The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County has announced plans to acquire the 1,000-plus-acre Santa Barbara Ranch, commonly known as Naples, potentially ending nearly 140 years of land-use disputes along the Gaviota Coast. Partnering with the Wild America Fund, the Land Trust is entering escrow and launching a fundraising campaign with $16 million remaining to raise.
The purchase could close as early as December 2026, permanently protecting one of Southern California’s remaining stretches of undeveloped coastline. Following acquisition, the Land Trust plans a two-year assessment to develop conservation strategies and explore opportunities for public access, including trails and recreation.
