A deputy attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle driving with one headlight. While the deputy was driving behind the vehicle, it departed from its lane of travel multiple times and veered into both oncoming traffic lanes and the shoulder. After the emergency lights were activated, the vehicle did not yield and disregarded at least three stop signs at speeds of approximately 35 mph on Via Real in the vicinity of Summerland. The vehicle briefly veered toward a pedestrian on the sidewalk. CHP responded and ultimately performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle. The driver was arrested for CVC 2800.2(a) and CVC 23152(a). Because the PIT was performed by CHP, CHP took the arrest.
