Friendship Center Marks 50 Years with Fourth of July Celebration, and More News Bytes

Friendship Center celebrated two milestones during its annual Fourth of July Party, honoring both America’s 250th birthday and the nonprofit’s 50th anniversary of serving both older adults living with dementia and their families. Members, loved ones, caregivers, volunteers, and community friends gathered for a festive afternoon featuring a special lunch and plenty of dancing to music by DJ Darla Bea. A highlight of the celebration came when Santa Barbara City Councilmember Kristen Sneddon presented Friendship Center with the City of Santa Barbara’s official 50th Anniversary Proclamation, recognizing five decades of compassionate care and support.
The anniversary celebration will continue later this month at Friendship Center’s Summer Polo Soirée on Friday, July 17, at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. The afternoon fundraiser will feature polo, cocktails, light bites, desserts, and a silent auction while helping launch the organization’s larger 50th anniversary celebration planned for this fall.
