Message from MA: Hathaway Tree Tradition in Montecito

Undoubtedly the most heartwarming event of the year is decorating the Hathaway Memorial Tree in Upper Manning Park. Last Friday, many elves, young and not so young, adorned the tree with lots of ornaments and tinsel! The presence of all the school kids, Dana Newquist arriving in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the firefighters ascending the ladder to the top of the tree, and the collaborative effort of Dana, Andrea [Newquist], and Mindy Denson in gathering all the decorations – it made for a really fun and festive afternoon. Children walking home from school took a moment to lend a hand and even passersby walking their dogs enthusiastically joined in! What a fantastic way to usher in the holiday season in Montecito with this delightful tradition. When you are driving down San Ysidro Road, take a moment to admire their beautiful work!
