Artists Awarded  at Exhibition Opening

Juror Robin Eley talks to area artists in the museum

Santa Barbara resident Nadya Brown won Best of Show at the opening reception of the annual Tri-County juried exhibition, Uncanny, at the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum. Brown, who was born and raised in England, won the $1,000 prize for her vibrant, dream-like painting Kafka and the Snowglobe.

Westmont alumnus and hyperrealist painter Robin Eley (’01) handpicked the exhibition, which features 45 pieces from 33 local artists and runs through June 18.

Inga Guzyte won First Honorable Mention for The Bacall Look. Margaret Ricks won Second Honorable Mention for Unveiled. Third Honorable Mention went to Sommer Roman for Sighting no. 542. Ruth Ellen Hoag won the Art Council Award for Impromptu. All the winners earned $500.
