The Amazons ruled at the ninth annual Santa Ynez Polo Classic hosted by former Santa Barbara Polo Club billionaire patron Tom Barrack at the Happy Canyon Vineyard at his sprawling Piocho Ranch.

The popular event, co-chaired by Nancy Hunsicker and Alanna Tarkington, featured four all-female teams watched by 350 tony tête topper wearing guests, while raising around $100,000 for People Helping People, a 29-year-old Solvang-based organization providing human and social services.

Among the guests masticating on lunch from Jake Francis of the Valley Piggery, while quaffing Happy Canyon wine and Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company beer were sheriff Bill and Donna Brown, Geoff Green, Kari Lloyd, Jeep and Sharon Holden, Joel Baker, Patty DeDominic, Joe and Katie Russell, and Mike and Claudia Uretz.

Singer-songwriter Arwen Lewis, granddaughter of Oscar and Emmy award-winning actress Loretta Young, sang the National Anthem.

Scooting Out of Town

Media mogul Scooter Braun, who has acquired an all-new Brentwood mansion for $65 million, has sold his Montecito estate for $28 million.

The buyer is Bryan Schreier, an early Google employee, and his wife, Eve. He is now a partner in Silicon Valley-based Sequoia Capital, one of the world’s top venture capital firms.

Braun, 40, bought his 1916 home in our rarefied enclave seven years ago for $10.9 million.

Veteran local architect Marc Appleton helped renovate the 7,957-square-foot property with five bedrooms and five baths. It also has a two-bedroom guest house and a pool house on 4.6 acres.

One of the Big Orange’s most historic jewelry companies, Laykin et Cie, which has been selling bling to the likes of Princess Grace, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Doris Day, for nearly a century, is opening a boutique at the Rosewood Miramar next month.

Erik Laykin, a family scion, will run the outpost, which had a store in the Biltmore at one time.
