Next Monday, May 14, Coast Village Road in Montecito will be host to the second stage of the Amgen Tour of California, the premier cycling stage race that covers 645 miles of roadways, highways, and coastlines during seven stages from Long Beach to Sacramento from May 13-19.

The start of the second stage of the race begins at the Ventura Pier and heads south, through Oxnard and Camarillo before rolling through Santa Paula and Ojai. From Ojai, the race slowly descends to Foothill Road and into Carpinteria and Montecito. It will roll through Coast Village Road around 2:45 pm, as riders head toward Gibraltar Road, the top of which marks the end of stage two.

The City of Santa Barbara, along with SBPD and the Coast Village Association (CVA), are coordinating the race’s arrival on the road. Some areas will be blocked off from parking from noon to 4 pm, with a hard closure of the street expected at 2:05 pm for about an hour. During the closure, no vehicles will be allowed to traverse the road and will not be able to enter or exit several driveways.
