It wasn’t quite the Olympics, but KEYT-TV reporters Mike Klan and Kelsey Gerckens were going for gold at the 68th annual Golden Mike awards in Los Angeles.

The ABC affiliate broadcaster won the coveted trophies at a glittering Radio and Television News Association of Southern California gala at the Universal Hilton, with Kelsey – who won the Amazing Race and $1 million two years ago with her now husband, KEYT morning news anchor Joe Buttitta – getting the accolade for weather reporting, having won last year for Best Spot News Reporting.

Montecito resident Mike received his award for Best Sports Reporting, also his second consecutive year.

The station also garnered awards for Best Live Coverage for a News Story for photographer Ryder Christ, Best News Story by Vicky Nugyen, and Best Medical and Science Reporting for Tracy Lehr.
