The Music Academy of the West has established an annual Alumni Enterprise Awards scheme to help budding musical entrepreneurs who’ve attended the Miraflores campus.

The awards, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, will fund original ideas in areas including artistic expression, audience development, and technology, based on scope and scale.

Academy president Scott Reed says: “We are excited to assist our alumni in launching new programs that could be crucial to their growth as entrepreneurial artists.”

Clearly a scheme of high note.

It’s Drew Love

Former Montecito actress Drew Barrymore, 42, who married Will Kopelman, 39, in our rarefied enclave six years ago, would seem to have a new man in her life.

The Santa Clarita Diet star has been seen around town with David Hutchinson, the senior vice president of Maesa, which make Drew’s Flower Beauty products.

Her marriage to Kopelman, which took place a tiara’s toss from Law & Order producer Dick Wolf‘s estate, produced two daughters, Frankie, 3, and Olive, 5, and ended in divorce two years ago.

Stay tuned.

Second Time Around

It will comes as no surprise to readers of this illustrious organ, but Montecito Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is now officially engaged to TV producer Brad Falchuk.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have come together at this juncture in our lives when our collective success and failures can serve as building blocks to a healthy and happy relationship,” says Gwynnie, who features on the cover of the latest issue of Goop magazine with her husband to be.

The 48-year-old star met the Glee creator, 45, on the set of the musical drama in 2014 and have dated quietly for the past three years.

Previously Gwyneth dated Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, and rocker husband Coldplay’s Chris Martin until “consciously uncoupling” in March 2014, with the divorce finalized in July, 2016.

Here’s MAW in Your Eye

Camerata Pacifica’s first concert of the New Year was switched from its normal venue at the Music Academy of the West’s Hahn Hall to the Lobero because of the havoc wreaked by the mudslides and flash flooding in our rarefied enclave.

The varied program featured music by Beethoven with Gilles Vonsattel performing Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major, Gyorgy Ligeti’s trio for violin, horn, and piano, Olivier Messiaen’s Appel Interstellaire, Benjamin Britten’s Suite for Violin and Piano, wrapping with Bela Bartok’s Out of Doors Suite.

Swiss-born Vonsattel featured in four of the five pieces and it was clear to see why.

The performance benefitted Santa Barbara relief efforts.
