Zombie 5K Rises Again for Shelter Animals

The dead are rising in Orcutt, and this time they’re running for a paws-itively good cause.

The Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation’s Zombie 5K Glow Walk/Run returns October 17 at Blast 825 Stockyards, inviting humans, leashed dogs, and even cats to walk, run, or shuffle their way through a glow-in-the-dark 5K benefiting vulnerable shelter animals.

The frightful fun begins with a pre-party from 4 to 5:45 pm featuring food, live music, local vendors and a silent auction before the undead hit the course at 6 pm. Afterward, stick around for a costume contest and after-party. Special guests include Pit Boss star Shorty Rossi and his dog Augustus, plus “Animal Whisperer” Suzan Vaughn.

So grab the leash, dig up your best costume, and join the pack. No bones about it, this 5K is dying to help animals in need.
