Marketing As a Spiritual Practice?
After more than two decades helping thought leaders secure media coverage with outlets that include The TODAY Show, the New York Times and Oprah Winfrey’s platform, veteran mind-body publicist and marketing expert Jeanna Valenti has now shared her approach to conscious, values-driven promotion in a new book. The Yoga of Marketing: Balancing Heart, Mind, and Spirit for Success, published in April by Simon & Schuster imprint Indigo River, blends ancient yogic wisdom and the chakra system with modern marketing strategy to reframe marketing as an act of service rather than self-promotion. The target audience is anyone, although the book – a guide to painless, holistic marketing practices that align with who you are – may be especially useful for entrepreneurs, wellness leaders, authors, and creatives who struggle with visibility and burnout.
Reviewers have praised the book, with one saying: “Instead of pushing readers to force growth through exhaustion, it encourages business strategies rooted in alignment, authenticity, and well-being.” While another said: “The book also encourages journaling, meditation, and visualization, which make marketing feel less like a chore and more like a human process.”
Valenti offers readers her time-tested formula for success along with life-transforming principles and practices designed to improve energy, attitude and effectiveness. And you don’t even have to be a practitioner or even a fan of yoga to benefit, as Valenti’s step-by-step procedures, embedded with the ancient wisdom of the chakras, show readers how to approach effective marketing with ease. The idea is that once readers engage with the work, which builds a bridge from consciousness, awareness, and mindfulness to the worlds of marketing and business, they’ll finish feeling inspired – and with a foundational understanding of yogic philosophy and the chakra system, practical marketing best practices, and a sense of peace about the process.
Get a taste of the principles on offer when Valenti shares insights from The Yoga of Marketing: Balancing Heart, Mind, and Spirit for Success and signs copies of the book on Saturday, June 13, at 3 pm at Tecolote Book Shop in Montecito’s Upper Village.

Lotusland’s Well-Being Wednesday event for June is the return of Professor Fabio Rambelli’s sound bath in the garden. Restore your body-to-mind connection through the ancient wellness technique where participants will be surrounded not by the sounds of ancient Japanese instruments but also the spectacular nature setting to help attain deep meditative mindfulness. The scholar in Japanese Religion and Cultural History at UCSB uses the sho, an ancient Japanese instrument with multiphonic capacity, to serve as the interface between the cosmos and the mind-body. By exploring how different scales and modes relate to colors, seasons, hours of the day and emotions, participants will move toward attaining a state where each sound becomes a microcosm of existence.

Alexis Slutzky’s monthly gathering in Skofield Park is a practice where participants offer listening and attunement to the land as a gift and receive the gift of that listening in reciprocity – an opportunity to open to guidance and shift our orientation away from human supremacy towards all the beings in creation. The event is held in a circle of community with an orientation, attunement, context setting, and embodiment practice; before the self-directed listening experience in nature comes back together in a council circle to share stories and gather collective wisdom. The next circle, slated for 2-4 pm on Saturday, June 13, may be the last for several months in contemplation of a summer break.
