Solstice’s Sizzling Workshop and Soirée

Although construction of floats, puppets, and other magical parade entries has already commenced at Santa Barbara Summer Solstice’s workshop, the official grand opening reception takes place this Saturday, May 16, at the CAW at 631 Garden St.

Meet the staff, artists, and community members while peeking behind the curtain at the magic of how the annual parade comes together. Chat with prop and mask designers, professional costume makers, construction pros, and others about how you might join a group or make your own ensemble or float for the 52nd Summer Solstice Parade, slated for 12 noon on June 20.

Show even more support for our community’s celebration of (yes) the longest day of the year at Solstice’s Second Annual Spring Soirée, a fundraiser at 4 pm on May 23 at the above-mentioned workshop. The benefit art auction and cocktail party will again feature live music and dance performances, tasty savory and sweet bites from local restaurants & beverages from local wineries and breweries.
