Buns and Bubbles

Santa Barbara Yacht Club shone with sun-soaked sophistication and sparkling spirits, staging a springtime soirée that was stylish yet relaxed, silly yet serene. Guests arrived in casual, cheerful ensembles – breezy pastel dresses, Hawaiian shirts, and lightly adorned hats – perfectly suited to the sunlit scene. Bright linens draped the tables, tulips tumbled temptingly in sunny vases, and towers of Easter eggs tempted taste buds at every turn.
In attendance were the ever-elegant Brenda Blalock and dapper Alan Porter. Also, J.C. Gordon, former El Presidente of Old Spanish Days, attended with the radiant Julie Gordon, the delightful D’Ann Lawson, the chic Cheryl Fisher, and the melodiously minded Canaan Triplett of the Triplett Custom Harps Company. Julie remarked, “Seeing the kids all excited to meet the Easter Bunny lit us up and made us smile to see the pure joy it brought them!”

Adding to the merriment, an announcement over the loudspeakers warned that a “strange furry creature” was hopping down the beach towards the club. When it was later announced he was taking the elevator up, one wag quipped, “He’s a few sandwiches short of a picnic.”
No celebration would be complete without culinary flair, and Executive Chef Owen Hanavan, a thinking man’s crumpet, delivered the day. Even the live Easter Bunny – “all fur coat and no knickers” – donning his Yacht Club hat, posed with the chef and scampered off to hide eggs on the beach, prompting a lively, laughter-filled hunt for the children.
It was a true Eden by the Beach morning – from the pastel-perfect scene of Santa Barbara Yacht Club to the laughter of egg-hunting children – beautifully boisterous, breezy, and buoyant, brimming with brightness, bonhomie, and just the right touch of whimsy against the sparkling backdrop of Santa Barbara Harbor. Guests departed with cheeks flushed and hearts full, carrying memories of a sun-soaked brunch magnificently merry and magically mischievous.
From there the fun was just beginning, later that day we visited the home of Mark and Andrea Alfano to continue the hunt for more food, family and friends.
