There’s Paint in Them Thar Hills

Jeremy Tessmer, gallery director at Sullivan Goss, regaled more than 80 guests at the historic Santa Barbara Club, where the Montecito Bank & Trust MClub lunch featured stories of early artists who traveled West.
A number of these came for free on the Santa Fe railroad, which sponsored them in exchange for illustrations to publicize the “lore” of the West and encourage tourism.
Several of their works are in the collection of the Santa Barbara Club, the oldest private club in our Eden by the Beach, founded in 1892.
Art Foundation Trustee John Doordan welcomed the artistic throng, including president Frank McGinity and fellow trustees Katherine Murray-Morse, Maria McCall, and board president emeritus Keith Moore.
Other guests included Toni and Al Amorteguy, Peggy Wiley, Wilson Quarre, Marilyn Sullivan, Rebecca Brand, Carla Amussen, Gillian Launie, and Anne Luther.
