Courtly Decisions
The Duke of Sussex, 40, lost his battle for taxpayer funded police bodyguards when in the U.K. – putting him on the hook for nearly $2 million in costs.
Harry was told his “grievance” over security was not enough to successfully change the decision.
The Riven Rock resident believes he’s been “singled out” and “badly treated” since leaving the royal family five years ago.
Harry’s barrister argued the removal of armed bodyguards when he is in the U.K. left the royal’s life “at stake.”
He had fought the dismissal at the High Court claim against the Home Office over the decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures that he should receive a different degree of protection when he is in the country.
Afterwards Harry, in an interview with the BBC, said he was “devastated” by the decision and his father King Charles, 76, had not been speaking to him.
Harry said he would like to reconcile because life is precious, and because the monarch’s cancer diagnosis calls into question how much longer his father has to live.
