Exclusive Music for Mountain Series

Clarinetist Narek Arutyunian was supposed to make his Ojai debut on May 3 for the Chamber On The Mountain series that honors the traditional while celebrating the innovative. However the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans, so instead Arutyunian recorded a concert from his home in Queens, New York, exclusively for Chamber On The Mountain donors, subscribers and friends! His 35-minute solo clarinet concert featured Hommage a Manuel de Falla and Hommage a J.S. Bach by Bela Kovacs; Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet; Spanish Caprice for Clarinet Solo by Ivan Olenchik; and Khosrovidukht’s “Wondrous it is to me,” with the 8th century hymn arranged for solo clarinet.

Chamber On The Mountain also posted a link to Chinese accordionist Hanzhi Wang’s message of hope followed by a stirring solo rendition of a work by Piazzola, part of Young Concert Artists’ “Songs of Comfort” series. The accordionist played Hahn Hall back in February and is scheduled to appear at the Ojai venue in October. Visit chamberonthemountain.com for more information.
